Eat healthy and lose weight

- Make sure you consume small meals every three hours to avoid overeating and inconsistency in blood sugar levels. When you starve your body for long periods, it stores fats. Too much hunger could lead to unhealthy eating as well as consuming large portions. Instead aim for a healthy snack such as a fruit to eat in between meals.
- Intake of whole grains, fruits and vegetables is a must for staying healthy since they're low in calories and high in fibre, which will help you feel full for a longer time. This in turn makes you eat less and lose weight as well.
- Skipping meals is not an advisable option as you're more likely to over eat or binge when you finally eat after that long hunger break. Starving your body will lead to weight gain rather than weight loss.
- Water also helps you lose weight. Consume enough water to keep yourself hydrated. Don't wait to feel thirsty to drink water, your thirst at times could be mistaken for hunger, leading to overeating. Keep sipping water throughout the day.
- Exercise daily to keep the flab off and stay in shape. Exercise also helps you boost your metabolism, which makes it easier to lose weight.
- Maintaining a food diary will help you keep track of your current food habits, which will make it easier for you to identify changes in your daily diet in accordance to your weight loss regime.

Image management begins from home

As the saying goes 'everything begins from home ' , in the same way  image management also begins from home. 'Diwali' is a good time to do all the cleaning and organizing your home. Just make up your mind and decide first from which room or area of the house you want to begin with. Start with the room which needs most attention and gradually move to the one which needs less attention. You can also divide your work in a couple of days. If you can manage to get some help from someone that will be really good . Mostly kitchen or storeroom is the area which needs most attention. In kitchen you can replace the opaque containers with the transparent air-tight ones so that everything is visible and you can also monitor the quantity of that thing.Labeling is also a good idea. Colorful plastic baskets are very useful and very much in trend , you can utilise them for keeping fruits etc. Also its a good idea to decorate your kitchen a bit with colorful bowls, mugs etc so that you dont feel bored or dull when you are in kitchen.
This is also a good time to organise your wardrobe. For this you first need to evaluate what you already have, what you need to discard and what you need to buy. Have a good look at your clothes and accessories like shoes, bags, belts jewellery etc. Now decide which of the garment pieces or accessories you are never going to wear. Discard those items in a responsible way ( the best way is if you can give them away to someone who will make use of them). You might get emotional while giving away some of the items which  you really liked but not using them now or may be they are out of fashion or fit, but remember that clutter is of no use and it takes away your precious space, also its better if someone else can utilize them. Now make a list of things which you actually need . You can list the items in the order of priority, the item which you need first or is very essential can come on the top and likewise the rest can follow. Make a shopping list and keep it handy. Arrange your garment pieces in an orderly manner and store the ones which you wear occasionally. You can use transparent plastic boxes for storage as you can easily see what is stored in which box. Small pouches and boxes are are good for storing jewellery. Use your creativity and use different and interesting things for storing, keeping and hanging accessories. Make a list of things stored in the loft or things which are not used often as you might forget what all is there.

Its all about creativity and spending some time. But once you are organised everywhere in you house you will save lots of time and space. Also the feeling of satisfaction which you get after organizing your home is great!!

The key to maintaining weight

Balance, balance and balance is the key to maintaining your weight. People often think that if they are on 'diet' they either dont have to eat enough or eat boiled food. But have you ever thought that how long can you eat the food which doesn't satisfy your taste buds? So what happens is that after restricting yourself from eating many things,  a day comes when you just want to forget everything and eat what you feel like and ultimately end up eating more or in unlimited quantities. This is very human, the more we restrict ourselves the more we crave. So the key is ' balance'. It is always good to satisfy your cravings when they are in small quantities rather than curbing them and waiting for them to increase. Never deprive your body of anything, just control the portions because what you get from one particular food item you cannot get from the other. Each and every food item provides different nutrients to the body, so if you eat everything in balanced portions your body wont be deprived of any nutrient and imagine the happiness which you get after eating what you like! Try to keep a balance of 60% carbohydrates, 20% proteins and 20% fat or 65% carbohydrates, 20% proteins and 15% fats. Try to include both simple and complex carbohydrates. Also try to follow healthy cooking methods and always keep in mind the kind and the taste of food you like to eat, example spicy, tangy, bland etc so that your taste buds are satisfied and you do not get food cravings all the time. Last but no the least never stay hungry beyond 3 hours.

Is Image management required for 'Home makers'

Home makers or housewives must realize the importance of managing their image because the kind of work they do is really great. It it not easy to manage a whole house and play different roles like being a wife, a mother, a daughter -in -law etc. Most of the home makers or housewives pay least attention  towards themselves , but, they must realize that they do the most important work of building a family , moreover their children's future. Our children inspire from us so it is very important for us to present a  correct and positive personal, social and professional image in front of  them. As they say that everything begins from home, so in the same way Image management also begins from home to be successful in your personal, professional and social life. What do you say about this, please share your views...

The positive side of 'fat' in diet

Fat leaves the stomach slowly so it delays the onset of hunger pangs which contributes to the feeling of satisfaction. You might have observed that whenever you have food which has some fat content in it you dont feel hungry soon.

Some of the essential vitamins like A,D,E and K are only soluble in fat, so if you completely deprive yourself of fat you will be depriving yourself of these vitamins also.

Fat is also responsible for aroma and flavour of food without which food becomes tasteless and its difficult to consume flavour less food on a daily basis.

So what do you think now? Isn't it necessary to include some fat in your diet? But do monitor the 'quantity' of fat in food  or else you might put on weight and trouble your heart.

Mothers following teenage trends

These days I have observed a trend that mothers who have teenage daughters start following their clothing and fashion trends. By doing so are they projecting the right kind of 'image'? What I feel, that it is good to feel young at heart and stay fit but to portray an image many years younger to what you are may not be correct. Each and every clothing item and accessorie has a psychological effect on other person and also on the person wearing it. So would it be right to project such an image ? Yes, if you really like teenage clothing trends you can modify them creatively according to your age, roles and goals. One should be in a position that their youngsters inspire from them. Age is one thing which even if you hide from others you cannot hide from yourself. What do you think about this? Please post your comment.
