HOW TO DRESS UP COMFORTABLY YET STYLISHLY DURING PREGNANCY

One of the most beautiful time in a woman’s life is when she gets pregnant. Most of the women in today’s time are working and even if you are a home maker [which I feel is one of the most demanding job], one feels the need to look good . Why look good ? To feel good from inside , to feel confident and to, to feel like today’s woman and no doubt to get compliments which always give a mental boost and indirectly boost your positive energy and this in turn makes you do your work well and finally all this leads to happiness. Happiness being one of the most important things in life and all the more important when you are carrying a baby, a new life inside you. I remember almost all the people who came to know I was pregnant, first told me to be happy always.

During this period it is very important to feel comfortable, so when selecting your clothing always keep in mind that the fabric of the clothing material should be breathable. Preferable the fabric should be stretchable, at least up to some extent specially  your lower garment pieces like your leggings etc. we also get special maternity wear these days, but some people might find it expensive or limited choice range, so they can buy other alternatives available in the market like stretch chooridaars with Indian wear, soft stretchable tights, leggings ,treggings[a mix of leggings and trousers, great for professional wear] track pants etc. While buying these just keep in mind that they should not be too tight on the stomach. If not many then may be you can invest in one or two pairs of maternity pants or lower garment pieces in dull muted colors [eg. Grey, black, tan, khaki, beige etc] which can go with most of your upper garment pieces like kurtas, shirts, tops etc. These days even internet shopping sites are selling good maternity wear at reasonable rates, just make sure you order for correct size.
Do not invest in expensive clothing during this period unless buying for some special occasion as your size will keep changing fast and you will have to buy clothes every 2 months. Also you will take some time to accept your new size and you will want to look good with this new size and shape so you will feel like buying clothes often. Go for tops , kurtas and shirts which have a bit of flare, pletes from the middle portion which comes on the stomach, this will accommodate your tummy easily. A-line cut and anarkali in Indian wear also works well. Keep the colors bright and pleasant as colors effect our psyhyce and pleasant colors will accommodate your mood swings also. Beautiful multi colored or printed dupattas , stoles and scarves work well in instantly changing your look. Also, as these are free size you can use them with all your changing sizes and even afterwards. Ever if you are wearing a simple, inexpensive top or a kurta these accessories can change the look and make you feel stylish. Also use different types of shrugs and jackets and vests to enhance your look. This is the best time to buy from men’s section! Many of their t-shirts pyjamas or tracks will fit you well. You can wear comfortable denims with a t-shirt and an unbuttoned men’s shirt on it. You can even try your husband’s clothes, the ones which are your favourite!
Most women don’t feel like wearing jewellery as they feel suffocated during this period so you can stick to light weight jewellery if it is necessary to wear. Try to stick to just one piece of jewellery if you don’t feel like wearing all eg a pair of earrings or studs, only a neckpiece or maybe just a bracelet or a watch at times. Always keep in mind that nothing should be too tight to restrict the flow of blood which can in turn cause swelling [eg tight finger rings or toe rings]. Footwear should be very comfortable and heels [including wedges and block heels are a complete no no]. You can also use soft insoles available in market to prevent sweating of feet and for extra added comfort.
Make up if necessary to wear should be mineral or herbal. Try to avoid heavy makeup, let your skin breathe and do not compromise on quality of makeup. Always inquire about the expiry date of make up before buying. If you don’t feel like wearing makeup and still feel it is essential , go for a sunscreen in day time[which is always a must] and moisturiser in evening as a base  [ lacto calamine lotion also acts as a good ultra light base] . Use some lip gloss, kajal, mascara to enhance the look. You can use fresh beetroot juice as a blusher to give natural pink tone to your cheeks . If you are finding difficulty in managing your hair then you can go for shorter hair styles  which can be  managed easily without doing much.

And last but not the least, love yourself and your changing shapes and sizes. Be happy!!.
